Introduction of Anthony Sonnenberg’s Masterclass
This is a sculptural ceramic course that will center around incorporating found objects and materials into the ceramic sculpture building processes. We will focuses on learning two techniques that make this incorporation possible: the Slip-dip/Burn-out casting and incorporating/combining pre-fired and found ceramic objects with unfired clay to create hybrid sculptures. The class will still utilize traditional glazing and firing process to fix and finish the pieces. We will discuss what materials work best when using these techniques, as well as the conceptual and formal advantages of these techniques. An openness to experimentation and risk taking will be an essential part of this course.
