Introduction of Laura Kukkee’s Masterclass
In this workshop, we will design and make our work by developing the form and surface together in new and unexpected ways. Using templates, drawings, patterns and surface decoration techniques, the focus is to develop unique vessel forms that activate space in new ways. Considering space above, beside and between objects, there will be multiple exercises designed to encourage students to extend forms into these spaces, creating a charged energy around the finished objects. Topics for form-development will include building with multiple parts, visually linking groups of objects together, activating space with form, and using patterns and abstract image to create concrete, three dimensional forms. Topics for surface exploration will include image transfer, mono printing, working with engobes and building with patterned units.
