Mr. Young Soo Kim was born in August,1972 in the land of celadon in South Korea. He received his master's degree in the field of Art and Design from Kookmin University, Seoul. From 2005 to 2006, he held the post of external professor at Jing De Zhen Ceramic University. He is the deputy director of the Korea Modern Ceramic Artists Association and a member of IAC (UNESCO International Ceramic Artists Association). He has held 9 times of individual ceramic exhibitions (Korea and China), more than 160 times of group exhibitions, and more than 30 times of ceramic seminars (China, Korea, the United States, Japan, Turkey, Thailand, Italy, Ireland, Vietnam and other countries). His works are collected in the museum of the United States.
Mr. Jin Yong Zhu expressed once why he began to create in the way of Raku: when he came to JingDezhen Ceramic University in 2005, students were very interested in Raku, so he adopted the teaching method of Raku. During this period, he went to Yi Xing, after he saw the pot making technology, he was highly inspired. From then on, he started to use the elements of pots to create Raku works.
Because Raku is a special firing technique that can see ceramic works in a short time, the works produced by Raku are an accidental effect beyond the control of artists. This is exactly the charm of Raku. For this reason, Mr. Kim has been studying the Raku creation for more than ten years habitually.
