Exhibition Preface La Catrina is an iconic character from México. The Catrina was a sarcastic character with the purpose of making fun of high class people who were trying to imitate the european fashion. Along with this, the traditional “Day of the death” has immortalized the death to live among the living ones. The celebration of the Death is very importante for the Mexican culture and our ceramic celebrates this with handcrafted pieces in traditional and local techniques better known as “Mayólica”. The creation of these pieces occurs in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, in the heart of México. The workshop have 30 craftsmen working with the same technique that was taught by the spanish in the colonial era.
