It's all about balance. Too little is not good, too much does not feel right either. This is the case within personal and local relations and even more significant in a global context. It is necessary to always readjust our senses to be able to realize when something gets out of hand. Striving further, higher, faster can be a motor for development, but also can destroy. It is a goal to act and react, to find a center without being boring.
Let's for example take the dramatic changes in the world climate. The lack of water is increasing and will more and more be a burden for future generations. Nevertheless, the weather forecast reports good weather only when sunshine is expected. Hence fog, cloudy sky and rain appear as bad weather.
With this exhibition, I would like to redirect the focus. Let us try to remember how pleasant a summer rain feels on the skin and think about how urgently nature needs precious water.
Have humans lost the feeling for these essential things and do we close our eyes in fear of the impact?
Let´s always try to be sensitive for unbalanced progress and attempt to sharpen our senses to be able to experience humble and delicate moments and things.

Christiane Toewe
Since the beginning of my training as a ceramist, clay has fascinated me. Clay needs four elements, earth, water, fire and air and satisfies many senses, feelings, sight, hearing. Working with clay is very complex, for good results a lot of knowledge is necessary and yet there are always surprises. I love this need to combine knowledge from science, art and craft.
My material is porcelain. To tickle out the translucency, to amplify it with light, is my passion. In combination with light, the aesthetic atmosphere of filigree porcelain is enhanced. The luminous objects will disappear with their own light and overcome the limits of materiality. The shadows and light reflections that the objects cast on the wall, the interaction between work and space, reinforce this impression even more.
