THE BASIC TECHNIQUE OF KUTANI
Kutani is one of the famous Japanese pottery places. The characteristic of Kutani ware is using transparent color overglaze. It is different from China paint technique.
In this workshop, the participants can learn the basic technique of Kutani by watching demonstrations. Then, you draw your original design with Japanese black pigment on a 30cm square tile. After firing, you put Kutani overglaze over the drawing with a brush. The basic colors of Kutani are green, yellow, purple and dark blue. You can also use light blue and transparent white in this workshop. We will also give lectures on design ideas.
After the second fi ring, you will get your own designed tile.
