Jingdezhen International Studio invited the guest artist of “TXC@Sunday morning-a Taste of Ceramics”, Koen Taselaar, he will present a lecture titled: "Possible Possibility" on Wednesday, April 17th, at Ceramic Art Avenue Flagship Store 2nd-floor lecture hall at 19:00. He will share his creation experience from drawing to ceramics and back again.
Under the influence of Western punk culture and underground music, a group of young artists who maintain a high degree of self creation was growing. When the audience admires their works, they will be guided by the hidden controlling desire, as if the artist is the God who manipulates the world in a puppet show.
Paintings full of details, clumpy ceramic works and abstract freehand prints are commonly used by Koen Taselaar, an artist from Rotterdam, the Netherland s.
After graduating from Willem de Kooning Academy in 2008, he created mainly in terms of graphic design and painting. The fragmentary words in his daily reading and the video content of the new wave movement left marks in his works.
Tom Tom club perfectly elaborated his point of view in the song wordy Rappinghood (1981).
Words in papers, words in books / Words on TV, words for crooks / Words of comfort, words of peace / Words to make the fighting cease / Words to tell you what to do / Words are working hard for you / Eat your words but don't go hungry / Words have always nearly hung me
To form a virtual band through painting, and replacing the arrangement of songs by the combination of image and text. When building this band, Koen always maintains a sensitivity to the theme selection of "records" and a strong control to visual effects.
After the establishment of the virtual band, growing up under the popularity of punk / DIY culture, Koen began to contact with the output mode of independent publishing, the irreplaceable texture of paper printing, and the unique experience of reading viewing, which made him insist on publishing his own picture album independently.
Puns are also widely used in graphic design. In the series of “No Where, Now Here”, Koen can change the combination of positive and negative spaces in text typesetting, so that the visual focus of the audience begins to drift when watching, and fluctuates between the foreground and the background, resulting in " reading impediment ". This " impediment " experience makes the audience more focused on the "reading" process.
During his one-month stay in Amsterdam Grafisch Atelier, in order to make the material play closer to the concept of creation, Koen tried to use silver plate printing to transfer the painting content. He repeatedly overlaps the coffee filter paper with the printed pattern, and then combines it with the high-resolution digital image. The pattern of each layer in the printing will be randomly placed. The results presented by the uncertain factors are as primitive and wild as the rebellious and dystopian in punk culture.
"I like the collision of the definitions of" uselessness "and" usefulness ", and the integration of " abstraction "and" concretion. "
